Sonata 1 was composed in 1991. After purchasing J. S. Bach?s “Three Sonatas and
Partitas” for solo violin on a trip to Germany I got inspired to try my hand at something
like that. It?s nowhere close but still interesting and challenging to play.
Sonata 2 was composed from August 1991 to April 1992. Started at the height of the rst
Gulf War and nished just as BeebleBrox recorded their third album. The fugue in there is
interesting because it tries to stretch the counterpoint out in time rather than playing the
notes simultaneously . Until the three part section, that is.
Sonata 3 was composed in 1992. By that time we had already settled in the little house
on Olive street in Bloomington, Indiana. This has a little blues in it and I like the sort of
free-time fugue.
